Repairs
You cannot drive a car for 100,000 miles without changing the oil, brakes and filters, and a hand knotted rug will not last forever if you don’t repair it when it starts to wear. Just about every area rug will need some repair at some point in it’s life. Whether it is machine made or hand knotted we can advise you on hand or machine repairs, or maybe the rug is not worth fixing. We can evaluate repairs at the store or via photo. Email us photos of the whole rug, some of the back and the area’s in question.
Common Rug Repairs
Replacement Fringe – Sew pre-made fringe over existing fringe or on the end of the rug. Hand sewn or machine.
Unravel and Overcast – Unravel worn ends to create fringe out of the foundation of the rug. An overcast stitch from the back prevents future unraveling
Re-wrapped edges – Hand wrapped, wool edges
Surging – Machine wrapped edges
Handsewn Patch – Sewing a patch into a rug, using a piece of rug that is of like kind, color & quality
Latex Patch – Gluing a patch into a rug, using a piece of rug that is of like kind, color & quality
